Topic Versus Statement - A Paper Topic Vs a Tertiary Essay
Topic Versus Statement - A Paper Topic Vs a Tertiary EssayWhy is it important to understand what a paper topic versus paper thesis be? There are many different reasons why a student may have to decide which type of essay assignment they should choose.A concept paper can be created using two different types of topics: those that are used for the purpose of communicating information and those that have a more practical purpose. Generally speaking, a discussion essay is created using a 'paper topic' as a foundation. In contrast, a thesis statement typically has a title that relates directly to the content of the paper. To put it in a less technical way, a paper topic is a way to define the problem or question that a person will be tackling when they write their essay. They provide a starting point for the writer to proceed with their research. As well, they provide an opportunity for the writer to first address the writer's fears and then the writer's concerns before actually talking abo ut the problems or issues at hand. In essence, a paper topic is a way to organize the thoughts and ideas that you have gathered so that they become relevant to the writing process.A paper topic has a defined structure that helps make the essay more cohesive. The structure is as follows: a beginning, a middle, and an end. The first section outlines what the essay will be about, while the middle section is what the topic is all about. And finally, the last section discusses the outcomes or results of the topics the essay outlines. In contrast, a thesis statement is a shorter statement that gives the tone of the entire paper. A student will often use this statement to show what they are going to be saying in their research. For example, if they are going to be using an English composition, they may use the statement 'I believe...'The pros and cons of the two types of topic are clear, but the one that is clearly better is the thesis statement. By incorporating a thesis statement into the mix, a paper topic becomes more like a 'thesis' in the academic world. Because the statement has already been proven in a research paper, there is no room for speculation or divergent opinions.Because a thesis statement tends to be longer than a paper topic, the choice between a thesis statement and a paper topic is a matter of preference. The benefits of a thesis statement include better organization, and potential for a stronger argument. Conversely, the advantages of a paper topic include fewer words and more clarity.Although there is clear evidence that a paper topic is much easier to understand, it is also clear that a thesis statement is more powerful. The student will need to consider how to balance the two topics before they decide which is the best. That decision can only be made once the student is sure they are clear on what they are trying to accomplish.
